ALLISON AND JONATHAN WILSON
Jonathan and Allison Wilson met before Jonathan went through the grueling tryouts to become a Navy SEAL. He graduated in BUDs Class 252, and they then began their life as a military family.
Both Catholic, Jonathan grew up in Tennessee, and Allison, outside of Annapolis, Maryland. They met in Annapolis and have not separated since! After five kids, multiple moves and deployments, they rely heavily in their Catholic faith, raising their children to the same. The deployments have been hard. The work-ups have been harder. During years in the Teams, Jonathan and Allison have endured multiple scares, deaths of colleagues and loved ones.
At one point Jonathan decided to enter the private sector and was accepted into the prestigious Goldman Sachs as an intern, then as Associate Trader. He moved his family (their third cross-country trip!) to Princeton, New Jersey and soon learned that trading wasn’t his passion. He went in blind due to the Teams having no transition platform for the guys getting out. After days that seemed longer than days at war, he started to think about other options. He had five kids, a wife who was constantly having to switch careers and his sanity to think about.
It was a day that Allison and Jonathan will never forget. Though Jonathan was out of the Teams, he still had his brothers. The kids still had their uncles, and they had made everlasting friends who were more like family. He got word that a good friend and teammate died in a helicopter crash overseas. Jonathan packed up and went straight to Virginia Beach. This was all too familiar to him. This time it hit him hard. After attending the service, he went home to tell Allison he was getting back in. Allison was shocked, scared and confused. After six short months, the family returned to Virginia Beach.
Jonathan also decided to start a non-profit, the SEAL Future Fund (SFF). Active for four years, this elite transition platform has assisted Seals transition to the private sector. SFF provides scholarships, mentors and internships. Since getting back into the Teams, Jonathan attended Harvard’s prestigious MBA leadership program and was accepted into Oxford University. Determined to transition the right way this time, he hopes to start his own leadership consulting business or teach others the skills he possesses.
Happy to be back in Coronado, Allison helps SFF with their events as Engagement Director. She also started a boutique maternity concierge, My Savvy Stork, to assist moms and moms-to-be. She hopes to offer this concierge service to military moms at no cost. She has been the rock, keeping the five children together through every move and taking something great from it. The children attend Sacred Heart, Graham and CHS. The family is back at Sacred Heart Parish where three out of five children were baptized and their oldest daughter made her first communion. Sacred Heart School and Parish holds a special place in their hearts, and they are active in both. Jonathan and Allison are thrilled to be a part of Dancing With Sacred Heart very ready to knock your socks off!!
