COOKIE AND DAVE "BOOBIE" DUTCH
Boobie & Cookie Dutch. It already sounds interesting and absurd! But the names are just the start.
This duo is just one third of the Dutch Clan whose recent history is framed by their move back to Coronado in 2011, when they rejoined the Island community and came back to Sacred Heart Parish & School after a decade-long hiatus. The family of six has moved well over a dozen times, but Coronado is one of the two places on the planet that the Dutch Family considers “home”. The other is East Lansing, Michigan, which is anchored by the Michigan State Spartans. Go Green!
Boobie (aka Dave, Dad, DD, & Diver – but not Dancer) is the ninth of ten children born and raised in East Lansing. During his first few months on the planet he became “Boobie” because his older brother with a speech impediment couldn’t pronounce “baby”.
Boobie has run the gambit as sibling, son, husband, father, Navy Diver, Veteran, model, mediocre shower singer, student in debt and business guy. But never a dancer - until now. He is the lucky husband of Michelle and the proud father of Maggie, Grace, Gunnar and Cookie.
Cookie (a.k.a. Chef, goalie, mathematician and daughter – but not dancer) is the youngest of 4 children in Coronado. She was born and baptized in East Lansing, received First Communion in San Miguel de Allende Mexico, and is currently an 8th grader and class president at Sacred Heart Parish School. She entered the world as Faith Rae, became Mia Faith less than 48 hours later, and legally became Cookie Faith just last year. A story for another time…
Cookie has pursued, to varying degrees, cooking (recent winner of Chopped Junior on Food Network!), lacrosse, poetry, painting, harmonica playing, Pi memorization (seriously), drawing, science, surfing and online fantasy games. (So much for focus.) But whatever she does, she does it with a smile, brings people together and always gives 110%.
Boobie and Cookie might lack classical dance training and may be a bit short of rhythm but they are convinced their positive attitude, high energy and lack of shame will provide for a compelling and memorable performance. If nothing else, the Dancing Dutch Duo will put the “Heart” in Dancing with Sacred Heart!
